NFRD held a training workshop on gender-based violence awareness for teachers in Al Tal.
The workshop which was conducted by instructors Alaa Anis and Suzan Kasem exposed participants to an overview of GBV with definitions, scope and contributing factors to GBV. It also provided an introduction to case management basics, the ecological framework for understanding GBV, and was concluded by a quick summary of the difference between gender and sex.
Instructor, Alaa Anis, said,” The workshop mainly targeted teachers because they are in close contact with teenagers for extended amounts of time and are viewed as role models for their students. We believe it would be useful for them to have information on GBV, so that they could amend their behavior accordingly.”
It is worth mentioning that the UNFPA funds NFRD workshops on GBV and awareness sessions on women issues.
