Nour Illuminators – Initiative by Graduates of Domestic Installation Course – Nour WGSS- Al Hussainieh

Graduates of Domestic Installation Course at Nour WGSS in Al Hussainieh held an initiative called “Nour Illuminators”. The ultimate goal of the initiative was to renovate the electrical installation of Nour WGSS by implementing the techniques they had learned during the sessions.
The trainer, Ali Ahmad, said, ” The beneficiaries were so enthusiastic to  start implementing everything they’ve learned on the ground. By being able to diagnose and repair broken light sockets and light fittings, and by managing to make simple repairs to the light units, they could prove to themselves as well as to others how strong and capable they were.”
Om Wael, one of the beneficiaries, said “New ideas are usually met with some degree of skepticism and resistance. However, as time passes, new ideas become more widely accepted. A female friend of mine really wanted to do domestic installation but was worried about what the society may think and what gossip may go around, so she didn’t join the course. I am sure she regrets this now.”
It is worth mentioning that Nour WGSS in Al Hussainieh, which is funded by the UNFPA, is striving to empower and uplift girls and women by offering a wide range of courses.
